Job Title: Multimedia Designer

Location: F.C.T Abuja

Type: Part-time (Remote)

Salary: NGN 70,000 – 100,000

Contract Duration: Initial contract will be for 3 months subject to renewal based on performance and availability of funds.

Introduction

Youth Network for Community and Sustainable Development (YNCSD) is a movement catalyzing social change by engaging young people and amplifying their voices to speak for Human rights through targeted advocacy to crucial players, capacity building and development, communications and media engagements, partnerships, and program implementation. We also work on other sexual and reproductive health and rights issues, governance and the environment.

Purpose/Objective 

YNCSD aims to engage the services of an in-house graphic designer who can interpret the organisation’s brand to execute different tasks related to web, print, social, and electronic media using youthful, vibrant, and storytelling elements to deliver a high visual impact for optimum visibility.

We want to ensure the implementation and adherence to YNCSD branding guidelines: design and layout of technical reports, project briefs, fact sheets, journals, training modules, training guidelines, protocols, etc.

Responsibilities

Work with the communications and advocacy team to deliver high visual designs for web, print, social and electronic media. You will be responsible for generating design concepts, executing revisions, and meeting deadlines.

To achieve the objective, a consultant is required to work closely with the communications and advocacy team to carry out the following:

  1. Implement YNCSD and donors branding guidelines.
  2. Work remotely from your own space and submit deliverables through email as requested and on time.
  3. Submit all editable versions of designs in layered Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and PDF documents.
  4. Ensure that all publications, reports and products are produced in line with YNCSD and donors requirements/policies. Learn and consistently apply YNCSD branding guidelines, policies, values and production standards and safeguarding policy.
  5. Mobile and user-friendly for the technical content of our target population.
  6. Deliver creative and innovative ideas for print, electronic, and web-based design and layout of reports and other products.
  7. Be willing to modify, edit, and totally change designs including designing from scratch.
  8. Design of reports and other communication materials for printing and electronic distribution. 
  9. Improve and edit artwork, photos, charts and other graphics elements.
  10. Layout and design information and communication materials(T-Shirts, banners, posters, booklets, leaflets,bulletins, flyers, cards etc)
  11. Create different illustrative materials such as animation, presentations etc.
  12. Keep up to date with the latest trends, tools and technologies for organization visibility.
  13. Be willing to work on short notice and deliver materials as requested.
  14. Upon acceptance of each design or concept, you will provide YNCSD with a packaged project file and we shall retain all intellectual property
  15. Have regular meetings with the communication team at YNCSD.

Expected Deliverables

You shall provide deliverables per the scope of work. This will include the

following:

  • Work within YNCSD brand guidelines to create layouts that reinforce the YNCSD style and voice through our visual touch points.
  • Illustrate concepts by designing rough layouts of arts and copy regarding arrangement, size, type size, style, and related aesthetic concepts.
  • Use rough sketches/layouts for discussion and coordination with the Communication and Advocacy team.
  • Creating and delivering graphic designs for various platforms and media.
  • Create motion pictures, short videos and reels
  • Develop unique ideas and design concepts according to the content.

Expected Commitment

  • You will be expected to work Mondays to Wednesday every week and liaise with the YNCSD Communication team.
  • Participate in weekly check-ins (30 minutes)

Reporting/Supervision

You will report to the Communications and Advocacy Officer via j.obeta@yncsd.org  . All designs must be submitted to her for review. No travel will be required for this role, all work will be done remotely.
